Noticed a widebody flight YYZYVR today indicating 84 standbys. Also appeared to indicate 32 Business Class standbys. The flight was full and oversold in Y. Am not aware of any cancelled flights that might contribute to this incredible number of standbys. Have they discontinued the rules with respect to “ Standby” ? Are they selling “ Youth Standby tickets at reduced fares? Doesn’t it seem hopeless to continue to add to the standby list when the flight is already oversold? I need to run over to the other terminal to ascertain if Westjet is also involved in this same practise!
