I am not exactly sure what you are asking, and I assume this is ticketed. A GUF2 can be applied to a single single booking as a GUF1 - i.e. you can use a GUF2 to upgrade a single passenger so your option (1) would work if you just want the upgrade applied to your wife. I would avoid the no show option (2) as all sorts of things can go wrong - such as CI agent checking bags in under your name.
Have you asked your TA for options? If this is ticketed then they can see what is possible and there may be different grey options depending on the degree of risk you wish to take.

Yes, this is ticketed. My question is if I split the PNR - in the context of a GUF2 that was from my account and the context of a HHA (which I think pose additional restrictions on GUF usage?) - will I be able to ensure my wife remains with the GUF2 applied to her resulting single booking rather than with me.
