At the rate the TSA has been wasting money on unnecessary personnel, The Shoe Carnival, The Great Sharp and Pointy Object Search, and ID Harassment, that sum is a drop in the bucket. Chemical sniffers should have been a priority, not an afterthought. And the technology has existed long before 9/11.

Try a bomb smuggled on board in a terrorist's or terrorists' butt because the TSA has a shoe fetish and the losers at DHS keep dumping money into the joke of an air marshal program instead of both DHS/TSA getting chemical sniffers to the checkpoints. And that's the real reality, like it or not.
