While I 100% agree with your competition statement BOG-PTY OW is $175. I think that's a LOT more reasonable than $500..
I just have a hard time believing that locals actually pay it $500 for a flight. (That's a more than a months salary in Ecuador) As in they have a local office or something that they go too, wanted insight on that...
