You do not need to transfer points or make a GoH booking.
You can book an award room for someone else, using points or certs from your account. This is explicitly allowed by the WoH T&C, and was just discussed in another thread. Just make sure to make the reservation in their name.
Of course you won't get credit for the stay (they will, since they stayed, not you) And you can't apply your TSUs or Club Access awards to the res -- those are valid for reservations in your name only.
