Ah yes, I remember those days. When to fly virtually anywhere in Europe from LHR or LGW without a Saturday night stay was circa £350-400 to France, Germany, Belgium, NL and £400-500 to Scandinavia, Italy, Spain etc. This was in economy!! CE I recall was only about 10-15% more than Y.

Include a Saturday night back then and the Y fare dropped to around £140-£180. Contrast that to today and I have just booked an LGW-GOA-LGW with no Saturday night stay for £78 return and a LHR-STR-LHR week day return (on the morning and evening peak services) for £125 return.
