that makes good sense - if they're wanting to upgrade people for operational reasons it's going to be from the regular pool of passengers therefore the people checking them in are the ones to do it. Present yourslef smartly and show the silver card and you have presumably a better chance htan anyone else.

My problem is I'm checking in at EDI so fat chance of an upgrade!!! (although I suppose there maybe on the way home when you really need a seat to sleep in....)
