I haven't flown Volaris since last May (typically fly them OAK/SFO-MEX) so I can't speak to how they are in 2019, but in 2018 I didn't find them to be particularly strict about weight. They can be strict about size, though, especially at MEX. Sorry I don't have a more definitive answer.
