For what it's worth this is also a Vistana timeshare property. In fact that's much of the business. There is also a huge turnover in staff. The service just isn't at the level of the rates being charged. At $500 or $700 per night I expect more than what the Westin STJ gives.
Right now, the US Virgin Islands are still in bad shape, at least in terms of hotels and infrastructure. On STT, the Marriott is years away from reopening. The timeshares at the Ritz-Carlton have been open for a while now but the hotel side remains closed, despite operating for a period of time as the Great Bay Resort while construction was occurring. Last I heard the Ritz-Carlton was supposed to reopen this summer. Now it's fall. Over on STX, the Renaissance remains closed as apparently the pension fund that owns it is trying to once again sell it. Who knows if it will ever reopen under the Marriott flag.
I've been seeing a lot of good airfares to STT for spring and summer. The Wyndham Margaritaville is the best option.
