I'm booked on the second FRA-HAJ flight (LH 1002) of the day, which departs at 9:45 and arrives HAJ at 10:35.
An earlier FRA-HAJ (LH 1000) leaves at 8:15a and arrives HAJ at 9:05a.

Is there any chance that I can standby for the earlier FRA-HAJ flight, rather than waiting 4 hours in Frankfurt Airport? Or better yet, has anyone ever been able to swap into an earlier connecting flight before ever reaching their target country?
I've found LH (at FRA, specifically) to be extremely hostile to the idea of standing-by for an earler flight. When I tried, the gate agent claimed to be incapable of generating a boarding pass and sent me to the ticket desk, the ticket desk wanted 100+ Euros to make the change. On this particular incident, the earlier flight was wide open and the later flight was full/oversold, but they still wouldn't do it. In their minds, taking an earlier flight was a change in the ticket and should be processed as such.
