London|LAX|MEX - 747 Business - British Airways

A rather late review of my trip visiting LA and Mexico (City & Cancun)

LHR - LAX - 747 UD J Review BA

Ticketing:
LHR - OSL - LHR - LAX (BA J)
LAX - MEX (AA MCE)
MEX - CUN (AM Y)

My flight from London to Los Angeles started in London, but went via Oslo back to London first. Too be honest this was totally unnecessary as it only saved me about £150! Was it worth the hassle, maybe not?! In hindsight, when starting in Europe, the saving is minimal when booking premium economy (and upgrading) and much larger when booking a pure business class fare. Business fares to the US can be an absolute steal out of European destinations. Next time I might just book Premium Economy from London direct and just upgrade that.

As a massive shock, no Elemis Spa treatments were available at heathrow, but the connection on OSL- LAX at heathrow was quite tight anyway and the champagne wasn’t bad in the “Galleries First” Lounge. Just kidding, I personally can't stand Taittinger, however some rave.

On board, the food I have to say was better than I have had in FIRST on BA. Which has been the case for the 4 flights in First I have taken so far on BA. Canard-Duchene was the champagne and was utterly delectable. The crew were happy and proactive. From Peppa Pig to a BA documentary and beyond: the film selection was immense I ended up watching the new Predator film.

My seat was 64K on the upper deck – It is well known as “the best seat in the house” on the BA 747. This is because First class is known to be a bit cramped in the 747 nose. Indeed after doing 1A in First on this plane, 64K is a lot more private. It also has lots of extra storage compared to downstairs business class and has direct aisle access, unlike many other business seats. BA Golds get first dibs on this seat, as it is blocked to other passengers until a few days before the flight
Some food is below: Presentation was extraordinary

I prefer longer business class routes like this one as you get to have a sleep cycle in the middle before the meals, a recovery of sorts before the next wagonful of champagne mysteriously makes it way into my stomach. Arrival in LAX was a mad dash off the plane then a good hour wait (which is good I suppose) I almost fainted in the queue no joke, I had to sit a few times. Time for LA!
