You're thinking of the Airspace Lounge JFK, not Escape Lounge. That indeed was everyone's least favorite Airspace Lounge as it was window-less and small and seemingly teeming with unmotivated Swissport JFK employees (Swissport bought Airspace as JFK was being built).
Escape is owned by Manchester Airport Group. An entirely different company. Though there is a common thread; the founder of Airspace Lounge, after selling to Swissport, went on to run Escape Lounges in the U.S. from before the time it started in the US and launched it and grew it.
