BA/AA combined e-tickets very difficult
I had previously replied to a post asking about AA/BA's new e-ticket policy that started back sometime in July, whereby you will now get an e-ticket if your combined itinerary involves only AA and BA.
In the post, I said I always get and carry an official ticket receipt (not email printed receipt) when I have one of these e-tickets.
Well, the other night I was leaving DOH (Doha, Qatar) on a BA flight in club world, and I had my official receipt. However, during my trip I called AA and had my reservation changed by one day. AA confirmed the change was made, and I was on the new flight.
Well, when I got to the airport, of course they had no reservation for me. The check-in desk at Doha, which is outsourced using local airline personnel, said they had no reservation for me today, but they had one for me the next day, and it was for THREE seats, but all of them were cancelled, so actually I had a total of zero seats. I call AA from the airport (and since I only had the 800 number, I had to call the office and get patched through). Once again, AA says the reservation looks fine, they call BA, BA says no, there are no confirmed seats for me.
Also, the reservation agent has NO way to contact BA, so he is talking to them over my cell phone, otherwise he has no communcation with them. So finally after about 90 minutes on my cell phone and standing at the desk, they are able to issue me a boarding pass, and it turns out the plane was only half full anyway.
So to correct myself from my previous post, yes, even with an official ticket receipt, I still have problems with AA/BA e-tickets.
As an aside, does anybody have any AA numbers in the US that are not 1-800 so they can be called from outside the States?
