Holding a koala in Australia is illegal in all states except Queensland and South Australia, and unethical/inappropriate everywhere. It stresses the animals and is IMHO just wrong. You can touch their back, if you must, or stand next to them for a photo, but there is no reason to hold them, and many reasons not to.
