I think ANY two-across seating beats ANY three-across seating on modern airliners. But the airlines have been ruthless about eliminating two-across economy seating, so it's become exceptionally rare to score such a seat.

Possible exceptions: The few window economy seats at exit doors where there is infinite legroom, and you can get up easily without bothering anyone. 757s and A321s come to mind.
