At a brand level, Elite breakfast benefits have not changed since the programs were merged in August 2018. The Terms & Conditions have been updated to identify some specific exclusions at some full-service properties, and, of course, two Elite tiers were renamed earlier this year. But there have not been substantive changes.

Marriott has six select service brands that do not routinely provide breakfast as part of the room rate, but that partially or fully cover the cost of breakfast as an Elite Welcome Gift choice for Platinum Elite (and higher).

"Breakfast in restaurant" daily (plus a second breakfast daily if there's a second guest) is a Welcome Gift choice at Aloft, Four Points, and Protea Hotels.

$10 F&B credit daily (plus a second $10 F&B credit daily if there's a second guest) is a Welcome Gift choice at Courtyard, AC Hotels, and Moxy Hotels.

If a Four Points hotel only offers a voucher that's insufficient for breakfast, then that property is violating a guarantee in the Terms and Conditions. At Four Points, the documented compensation for the failure to offer the guaranteed Elie Welcome Gift choices at time of arrival is $50 USD. The member must request payment of the compensation while still a guest at the hotel.

This isn't the first report on FlyerTalk of a hotel trying to offer less than the guaranteed benefit.
