For my girlfriend and myself's first trip together to San Francisco (about 10yrs ago), we ended up being in town for both the Folsom and the Castro fairs. Just pure luck, as we hadn't even heard of them, so certainly didn't plan our trip around it. Definitely a site to see, still remember the image of wall to wall people extending for blocks and blocks.
