With a flight at 13:30 need to be at airport for check-in at 12:30 or sooner. A better to have a margin of safety getting to the airport.
A lot of people take the train one way and the cableway the other. You could leave luggage at the hotel an pick up on the way to the airport.

Missing the flight would be very annoying and inconvenient, but not catastrophic. Far more preferrable to reach in time, of course. Most US airlines will put you on their next flight to the same destination if you show up within 1-2 hrs, does Qantas do that too ?

There is definitely not enough time to take cableway 1 way and scenic railway the other way. I don't think there's even time for cableway both ways. What I'm hoping for is cableway 1 way, maybe 45 min in Kuranda, Uber other way. Maybe Uber to Kuranda, then the cableway back. That would give me a chance to experience the cableway and take a quick look at the Kuranda Koala Garden.
