During yesterday's GE renewal interview, my 9-year old received an unsolicited lecture from the CBP agent on the importance of declaring food. She was told "if you bring any fruit into the country, your parents will be fined $500 and you will lose GE for the rest of your life." She repeated this several times for emphasis.

I asked her why my children had to appear for renewal interviews when my wife and I did not. She said that we were lucky as 95% of people have to do interviews. Not sure I buy that, I'm still of the view that they want updated photos and fingerprints from the kids...
