Since this is the UK, both would give the F&B credit to Platinums so question is whether the lounge breakfast is any good? Most recent post above wasn't very complimentary.

No, they have cut back on what you get in the lounge - fine if you want a quick continental breakfast, but if you want the full Scottish simply head to the restaurant instead.
We are room only this weekend and will head downstairs for breakfast there rather than go to the lounge.
