Phantom Avios availability on QR?
Just called to try to change a multipartner booking as I am relocating to Amsterdam - despite ba.com showing 2 J seats on DOH-AMS for the day I need, the agent was unable to see availability [or the unspecified number of Y seats on the same flight]. Apparently spent some time with a manager trying the same thing [though I never got to speak to the manager] but could not find/get availability in the booking system [she checked ba.com for herself and saw the same seats I did]. Agent was not willing to contact QR/Oneworld to attempt to resolve the issue.
I checked on aa.com too, and the same availability seems to be there - couldn't get QF site to accept Doha as an input though. Thought I'd check with the wise sages here before I call back to try to secure the seats - has anybody had a similar issue, or have any strategies to offer? I could test whether the availability is real by making a booking, but obviously don't know if the seats would go back in the award pool and I do not want separate bookings for connection and cost reasons. Maybe worth trying this with the Y seats...?
