I will have family members flying between Qatar and the UK 4-6 return trips per year.
My first priority is to earn some status to make my trips more comfortable, second priority is to earn miles from my and my family's travel.

Should I focus on membership, earning status via the BA Executive Club or Qatar Privilege Club.
As you will be flying for work does your employer have a travel policy/preferred airline? Expecting to fly on QR?
Unsure how much status will help on flight DOH-Eu. Seat selection at best? Do not expect (free) upgrades.

With frequent flyer programs 4-5 years is maximum outlook. T&c's are continually been downgraded.

QR does not have full family pooling. Freq flyer miles/points earned from QR flights are best earned by the individual. Not by you.

BA does have family pooling of sorts subject to the t&c's

The CEO at QR at time talks about leaving Oneworld alliance.
Generally on FT BAEC would be considered a better ffo than QR. But the airline you fly most is better for many travellers
