Might be inclined to switch reservation to W if villas are standard elite upgrade. titanium elite traveling with family so extra room might be worthwhile. Enjoy your time at the W.
The most common elite upgrade is the Ocean-view room. After that, the 1-bedroom villa is a more common upgrade that the suite, since there are very few suites. A free upgrade to 2-bedroom villa or better is not typical.
The 1-bedroom villa gives you a nice plunge pool and some outdoor space, but not much more indoor space than the standard room. There are also no 2-queen options in the 1-bedroom villas, so kids would have to sleep on seating made up as beds (not a sofa bed, but doable for 2 smaller kids.)
