Only sightly off topic but your point reminded me of something that happened to me years ago. I stayed a couple of nights in Amsterdam with a friend and when we were packing to check out I saw him stuffing the hotel dressing gown into his suitcase. The reservation was in my name and on my card.

When I asked what he was doing, he replied that they expect everyone to do this. I didn't think this was true so I made him put it back. We never shared a room again.
