How does the British Airways Hold work?
Hello - I will be travelling to India with my wife and kids and looking to book in First (A).
My ticket is already booked via my Company TA.
I have paid $30 to hold the tickets for my wife and kids for the same dates as my travel. To find the fares, I used google.com/flights and from there clicked on "Book" to get into the BA site where the entire itinerary came over. Unfortunately, Google has only the option of Adult, Child, Infant while BA expects Adult, Child, Teen and Infant. Thus, when I try to purchase the held ticket, BA does not let me add my 2nd child unless I change her birth year from Feb 2004 to Feb 2003 (16+).
My questions are as follows:
1. If I let this hold expire, will the seats held go back into the inventory? One of the flights I am travelling has only 2 seats left (that's what I am seeing when I go to choose my seats) and I need 3 and so if I try to make another new reservation then the flight cost goes up 4 times (I still have my held flights). Therefore my question is, when I hold the reservation, is the system blocking any seats for me as well? I would hate to let this reservation go and then realize that the seats did not get added in the inventory.
2. I also want to use the AARP Discount of $200 per ticket and I guess I will need to let this reservation go (unless you guys know of a way to get it added on a held reservation. At least I could not find going all the way to the last page) and then book a new one, but just want to make sure I will be able to book flights on the same. I have additionally got a Chase BA Credit Card, but looks like I won't get it in time and so will be loosing quite a lot on that. Ah! well.
Any and all advice is greatly appreciated!
