Stayed at the new Renaissance Xi'an last week. I am Lifetime Titanium and was there on vacation for three nights in March 2019 on a paid rate.

Rate was 527 CNY / $78 USD ( 615 CNY / $92 USD after tax)
I booked two rooms under my name/account/Bonvoy number. One was for me/wife/baby and one was for the in-laws. Rate represented very good value for what we got.
This was part of a three week trip to Asia with my wife, 5 month old baby and in-laws.
Picked the Renaissance due to price and quality. It's new, looked really nice and had some great reviews on TripAdvisor.
Hotel location is in the south of the city inside the outer ring road. It is approx one hour from the airport and train stations via taxi/Didi
Location is across the street from the main Xi'an convention center so this hotel is primarily engineered for hosting its own events and events at the convention center. There is very little nearby in terms of shops / convenience stores / tourist attractions... and to my disappointment, foot massage places. I knew this going in because the major attractions are the Terracotta Army/ Warriors) which is outside the city and you'd typically only visit Xi'an for one to two days of sightseeing so hotel location was not a big deal.
On arrival we went to check in and because I am Titanium we were redirected to the lounge on the 27th floor for check-in - the process was quick and efficient.
Both rooms were upgraded in advance to the Club Level which was nice. I have read / heard that this happens in Asia with more frequency when you book two rooms (even though program terms do not call for it).
One room (mine) was upgraded to a Junior Suite which had a nice living area, larger bathroom, extra toilet etc. The other room was upgraded from Deluxe to Premier - also a nice touch.
Nice, large bathtub in both rooms and shower water pressure was awesome.
Internet speeds were OK... all things considered with the "Great Firewall"
Lounge staff were great and while English was limited, we could understand each other. They told me that breakfast was served in the lounge but was much more expansive offering in the main restaurant downstairs on the lobby level.
BUT... if there is a conference, the hotel is at high capacity, or there is an event at the hotel... then the main restaurant gets very very very crowded. When my wife and I were having breakfast on the first morning, we were asked if a woman could sit with us as there were no other tables !!! We obliged.
For the second and third mornings, I decided to have breakfast in the lounge. While not the "global buffet" it was sufficient with hot/cold items, fresh fruit, eggs made to order, coffee drinks etc etc.
Evening cocktails in the lounge were decent too. Found was average but my wife and in-laws found it passable for dinner - especially after a long day of tourist adventures.
On the second day they left a nice plate of "treats" in the room with some fresh juice. Not sure when it was left int he room but they were a little stale and dry by the time we got home. Nice touch having a chocolate "Terracotta Warrior"
We visited the indoor pool once. It was very nice. We had it to ourselves. Temperature was a little cool but I found it refreshing. There is also a lovely steam room in the locker room which was nice to use and they keep it really steamy. Gym also looked great too but we did not use.
My two big tips for people visiting China is (1) have lots of cash on hand because credit cards are not widely accepted outside hotels and there does not seem to be a way to set up WePay for use with a foreign credit card that actually works for local payment and (2) figure out how to set up Didi (the Uber of China). It took me several times to get my credit card activated (including chat sessions with Didi customer service - which were pretty good in English). But it did take a few tries to get it working... this has been a lifesaver on our trip to China and is very good value. The minivan options (Premier Van) is a very comfortable way to get around if there are four of you.
One final comment... if I could do it over, I'd probably stay at the Westin instead. I loved the Renaissance property but the location of the Westin is better... looks over the plaza by the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, has a large mall across the street, and lots of little cafes, shops nearby (including a Starbucks next door).
