UA procedures to determine if a sick passenger is fit to travel?

Anyone know if United has procedures in place when it comes to passengers being sick? I was seated in seat 3B, the passenger seated directly behind me in 7C was sick, she asked for a vomit bag as she was boarding. She told the FA she wasn’t feeling well while still at the gate in FLL and with the door open. The flight attendants supplied her with a vomit bag and for the next hour I was graced with the smell and sounds of a woman vomiting.

Obviously the flight attendants aren’t trained medical people but if a passenger asks for a vomit bag while boarding it should be a red flag that she is ill. The FA rung the call button twice while still on the ground in FLL and asked if there were any medical doctors on board, not sure why we still took off with this sick woman on board.
