Edit: Misread - this is for LHR - It depends on cabin and status, the worst case scenario- Blue in EuroTraveller - is 3 hours before. If you have your boarding pass printed or on the App, and you are OK to use the self tagging machines, you probably can do baggage drop off any time on the day. It's not an automatic right, and if the belts are down / it's very busy then it could be restricted to 3 hours, but otherwise the machines should let you check the bags from 05:00 hrs.

From ORD, look at Manage My Booking / Check-in / Other ways to check-in for the time the desks open.
