We were to have stayed a week in May in a one-bedroom private pool suite but I broke a leg last month and will not have sufficiently recovered by then so had to cancel. We visited twice earlier, well before the recent renovation and reopening.
The hard product here, which by all accounts only has been heightened, has always been superb. That long beautiful beach and welcoming calm ocean is just about best in the world. Lollygagging in the ocean here is a favorite sybaritic delight. Never ever crowded -- it is a mile long! You hear only the susurration of the sea, no clamoring voices or unwelcome music. Accommodations are spacious, especially gracious, exceedingly comfortable with super indulgent bathrooms. All are beachfront.
In truth, service here historically has been a bit sketchy in terms of attitude, it can be stand-offish but may have improved. Given the venue, location and beach/ocean, I am not overly concerned about service lapses -- everything else is that outstanding and recovery usually satisfying. One further note regarding service: it is the lower and middle (especially middle) staffing levels that may be dicey, escalating issues/needs to higher levels usually works well so don't hesitate to appeal to the top.
And, a bargain at current price points. CJ can be flexible about rates, get your luxury TA to advocate on your behalf. They were particularly gracious in affording me a full refund when I was forced to cancel.
We are not well-versed in the Caribbean, having experienced other venues only in T&C, Barbados and Mexican Caribbean, but this is the best for us even with the very arduous travel from SFO (requiring one red-eye, another flight to neighboring island, then a 30-minute launch to Anguilla (or 15-minute puddle-jumper or helio).
