In Europe I always use AVIS for piece of mind. The vast majority of continental Europe hire car firms are frankly rip off merchants.

I’ve had a much better experience in the North America where the industry seems much more geared to positively differentiating as opposed to gouging customers.

For that hat reason I think it’s worth comparing more broadly - not just those affiliated with BA. I’ve always found Alamo particularly good for example.
