It depends on the property. There are places where properties are much more security-conscious and check carefully and there are places which could care less. So, it is a discussion with an appropriate manager at the property.

Beyond that, unless you know and fully trust the other person, this is a bad idea. The room is in your name and on your card. If anything happens to the room, you are on the hook and left to deal with the "odd" person.
