If ba.com is only offering you award flights on BA metal, that usually means that award space is not available on partner carriers. You can search for RJ award space at aa.com -- no AAdvantage account or log-in is required. If aa.com shows RJ award space but ba.com does not, a call to a BAEC Service Center would be in order.
