I read this to mean that 50-60% of pax will click through (on a splash page) to the standard Economy fare after selecting the lower BE option from the flight search results page. Though I don't doubt that some ULCC/leisure-oriented markets have a high uptake of BE. Anecdotally, I am in Florida periodically for work and pleasure, and at peak times there will be large swaths of Y seats open at >24h, only to fill completely when the door closes.

Agree that this is a substantive interview, but par for the course for Kirby... he's usually pretty candid, whether it's in an interview with members of the media or in an investor-oriented forum. He's pretty forthcoming with information and I appreciate it, as you do not hear a lot of corporate doublespeak from him.
