I received China Eastern silver status from SPG platinum status before the August 2018 Marriott merger and it renewed my status until January 31 2020, which should give Skyteam Elite status. I'm trying to book a delta ticket and take advantage of the Skyteam elite status of free priority seating, boarding, luggage and so forth but Delta only recognizes me as regular member.
Is it possible to book the delta ticket and credit the miles to Delta and still take advantage of my Skyteam elite status without switching FF to China Eastern?
I read during check-in, I can show them my China Eastern silver status and they'll give me priority boarding and the extra luggage allowance but do they change my FF to China Eastern instead of Delta?
I don't normally care about the little amount of miles I get credited for Delta but I'm 1 trip to Asia away from getting Delta silver medallion and I probably wont use China Eastern anytime soon.
Thanks ahead of time for anyone with insight on this topic.
I have done the same with KLM, Air France, and China Eastern...
First book your ticket with your China eastern cards.
When you go to airport, Just ask them to put your Delta # (AND remove the China Eastern #)... Miles will be credit with Delta.
