Hmm, not convinced, but to each his/her own! I can speak (as can my partner) both Thai and English, and I'm not blown away by SGS service...and no matter the perks, the hard product is just too old for my liking. I'd rather forgo the perks and have a nicer room to relax in. After the tour of the SGS, the other half made it clear we were not staying...a bit harsh, but I did get the feeling it is over-hyped. Once you are known to the St Regis, they really do treat you well, and as an Ambassador, I've had regular upgrades to the 24 and 25 series Caroline Astor suites from regular rooms, as well as my preferred 02 series grand deluxe. The service is genuinely warm, there is a sophisticated ambience, and it is a near perfect location for my needs. Maybe one day I'll try the SGS, but yet to be convinced, and it would need to be a really good rate.
