What is the difference between a side trip and end-on-end? What is an example of each?
The basic distinction is to keep you from slapping on another carrier's ticket at either end and getting interline protection to the trip (example, fly spirit SEA-LAX then UA LAX-SYD). Side-trips however are booked and fared with the ticket and are offered such rights (examples of which are regional pass travel).
