Historical Village of Hokkaido (Hokkaido Kaitaku no Mura) is an open air museum in the eastern suburbs of Sapporo. It exhibits about 60 buildings from all over Hokkaido, dating from the frontier period of Hokkaido (mid 19th to early 20th century). There are four sections representing a town, fishing village, farm village and a mountain village.
There is a restaurant serving ramen, curry & rice, set lunch, etc. (

The village has free wifi and there is an app (
Pocket Curator) which provides multilingual information on the exhibits.

The main entrance to the village is the old Sapporo Station building.
A horse-drawn trolley provides transportation along the main street, which is lined with old wooden and stone buildings.
Farm life is displayed in traditional houses built by immigrants from Honshu.
