I can generally sleep any time and anywhere, but this flight was so long that I did what you described and still woke up, watched a few movies and then hunkered down for another long sleep until shortly before arrival. You'll probably get enough hours of sleep given how long the flight is - you'll just be a bit off based on usual jet lag effects. I personally prefer being awake an hour or two prior to arrival to "wake up"
Thanks - yes the flight length is quite a daunting prospect! Agreed about being awake an hour before landing, same here. Always nice to get a coffee and a juice to wake up a bit.
