(Poss OT) Moving to UK - pointers..

Apologies if this is off-topic for this forum, I could not find anywhere else - either on FT or on other fora - to post it.

I am a dual Australian/UK national (due to birth country/patriality respectively) and have lived all of my life in Australia.

I have always wanted to spend an extended period of time in the UK, say upwards of two years.

In Australia, we have all sorts of procedures which you need to go through, such as applying for a Tax File Number (or else you will have income tax deducted at the top marginal rate), registering for Medicare, and so on and so forth.

I have seen fleeting references to National Insurance, and also the NHS.

I plan on arriving with around $A12K (about GBP4000) which I figure should be enough to get me set up in a small flat or rooming house out in the sticks and to cover me until I find work.

I am having trouble finding adequate information about what I should do once I actually arrvie. I will have a UK passport stating "British Citizen" so there won't be any dramas regarding my ability to work in the UK.

I am just looking for pointers as to satisfying the bureaucratic nicities of it all.

Dave
