On a lighter note, the most extraordinary experience ever was flying back from Luxembourg 15 or so years ago. The sole ATC Controller on duty had called in sick so all flights in and out were cancelled that day. We were bussed somewhere in France to catch our plane.

There can't be many international airports which depend on one man to keep them running !
