AA does not guarantee that you will be together (as you can see from the quoted language) but it is close to inconceiveable that it won't work out. Consider that if one adult is seated in one aisle, there is the window and across the aisle, not to mention the seat immediately ahead.

In absolute worse case scenario, this is a 45-min flight and it's a lot of money.
