I agree. I didn't use to have silver and it meant CE was only way into lounges.
As for buying CE now, well, it depends on the price. If it's marginally more expensive, then I'll take it. I'd go for 40-75 gbp max per leg. If it's over that, I'll just tend to go for the ET option. A lot depends on TPs. i.e. this summer, I'm back and forth to Sofia in CE because I need the 160 to hit gold. To be honest, it was competitive, came in at about 190 gbp return (using 10k avios), compared to the 140 in ET. It's a longer flight, so do like getting the food and drink(ssss)
