To take another earlier flight at your option would require a flexible ticket, so check your fare rules. Some carriers will rebook you on flights the same day, on either a confirmed or standby basis, but BA almost certainly won't unless your flight is delayed or cancelled.

Yes, it's a flexible ticket (booked into H class, not Y, so there might be a fare difference). I'm thinking of turning up on the day, and if anything is available sooner, or is cheaper, just refunding the ticket and booking a new one (I'm airline agnostic). But was curious what endorsing meant!
