I just booked 2 RT flights TPE to SZX for myself and a colleague but within 24hours discovered I need to cancel.
The EVA policy for USA originating flights is 100% refund within 24 hours, I guess to be competitive with airlines like United. But for my $400 ea tickets they want to take a $70 or so cancellation fee. I find this a bit of a slap in the face.
Being part of the Star Alliance team, and a major and national airline, why would I ever consider loyalty to an airline with such screwy "rules". I'll never fly long haul if they won't let me choose a seat, or treat me any different than another traveller when I am a *G. Which raises the question of why bother to be loyal to any member of the Star Alliance team - it helps the airline not the customer. And don't get me started on baggage fees and allowances.
Oh and when I can hold a seat, its the one down the back if its free and I have to pay extra for their so called premium seats.
Wake up EVA. You want the business of folks like me - offer something better.
Good luck finding airlines OUTSIDE the USA that offer free cancellation for 24 hours. (They may exist, I have no idea..but I wouldn't be very confident) And on top of the question already asked about *A 24 hour cancellation rules, another one..... Since when was preferred seating a Star Alliance Gold benefit? You seem to have assumed a number of things.... and are ranting because YOUR assumptions were incorrect.
