I don't know that they tend to provide smaller portions of entrees, or even part of an entree. One night on QM2, there was a steak dish and a seafood dish that included a lobster tail. I ordered the steak and just a lobster tail, and they brought the steak dish with sides and the full seafood dish with sides. Luckily my wife didn't like her entree and ate the rest of the seafood and sides, so nothing went to waste.
