think of the estore being like Quidco or other cash back site (except it gives you Avios instead of cash) If you click through from the cash back site to the retailer there is an association and your transaction can be linked. If you go straight to the retailer, bypassing the links then there is nothing to claim.
Only way I can see this working is if you cancel your purchases and start again using the correct links.
