Now I don’t get any AS credit for that so it’s harder to requalify. I sure wish AS would join one of the big networks like OneWorld, or even Star Aliance. OW Connect? Maybe. Looks tenable. AA would not have to lift a finger to help or change the existing relationship. QF/BA/CX/JL/AY could cozy up and AA could maintain their current “not TOO friendly” distance.

Full membership? Not unless UA/DL/AA is buying the airline and executing a merger.

”Hi, we want to be able to steal the customers you have in your market! Can we join your alliance as full members and we’ll get an advantage in an ogilopolistic market?”

“Lol no, are you high on what’s been recently legalized in the state you are HQ’ed in?”

There is exactly zero reason for UA/DL to do AS a solid. AA already had a deeper relationship and said “naaaaah, we’re good”. Why make it easier for someone to defect to Mileage Plan in a market like LAX or JFK?
