Reporting back on our connection from earlier this month in case helpful - I made it to the departure gate in under 30 mins (carry on only + Global Entry/precheck), those with checked bags + Global Entry/precheck made it in 45-60 mins just before boarding started, but those with checked bags / no Global Entry/precheck missed the flight and were rebooked on the 10pm MIA-ORD. The biggest issue apparently was having to go airside to re-check bags as this was two separate tickets (both on AA but no thru-checking).
