Repeated questions asking "is this enough time" need only look at MCT to determine what air carriers are willing to accept by way of their own risk. Above that, it all comes down to risk. Losing a paid F long-haul return ticket is a significant hit. On the other hand, if the risk is that one might have to purchase a short-haul ticket on some ULCC once every 10-15 trips, that seems to be a risk worth taking.
But, each individual has to assess this against his own circumstances. Those may be greater than simply financial. E.g., important business meeting missed.
agree totally and risk tolerance is different to all taking that risk, however this adds another aspect into mitigation of said risk and considerations in making an informed decision at the outset, which includes back up plans or far longer periods of transfer connections
