So far for me, one true operational upgrade. MIA-DFW (i was returning from FPO). That's it. I fly DFW-LAX very, very regularly. Been doing it for over 4 years. I fly it at peak times (first out flight Monday morning, Thursday evening going back to Dallas). NEVER have they asked for volunteers to give up seats. I can't imagine they op-upgrade folks either, as there are tons of elites on those flights, and getting a standard "sticker" upgrade as Platinum can be really tough.
